Which queries are close to page one?

search-console · find_opportunities
example.com · last 28 days · read-only

4 queries rank between 6 and 14 with 29k impressions between them.

gtm server container hosting11.27.4k31
woocommerce ga4 purchase event6.75.1k88

"server side tagging cost" gets 12.9k impressions at position 8. A pricing FAQ on that page could move it up. Want the page-level view?

Your assistant picks the query, the MCP asks Google from your machine, and the answer lands in your chat.

Set up the free Tag Pilot Search Console MCP for me. It's the npm package @tagpilot/search-console-mcp (stdio, command: npx -y @tagpilot/search-console-mcp, no API key or env needed). Add it to your MCP configuration the way your tool does it (e.g. `claude mcp add search-console -- npx -y @tagpilot/search-console-mcp` in Claude Code), tell me if I need to restart or reload, then call its `connect` tool and show me the link and code so I can approve it in my browser. Once I say I've approved, call `connection_status`, then list my Search Console sites. Docs: https://docs.tagpilot.io/products/search-console-mcp/

# Claude Code
claude mcp add search-console -- npx -y @tagpilot/search-console-mcp
# Gemini CLI - from a clone of the repo

# Any other MCP client: command npx, args -y @tagpilot/search-console-mcp

What you can ask

Performance

"How did clicks, impressions and CTR change over the last 3 months? Which pages gained the most?"

What changed

"Compare the last 28 days with the 28 days before. Which queries did we lose, and which are new?"

Quick wins

"Which queries sit just off page one with lots of impressions? Where is our CTR low for the position?"

Indexing

"Is /pricing indexed? Which canonical did Google pick, and when was it last crawled?"

Sitemaps

"Are my sitemaps healthy? Any errors or warnings, and how many URLs did we submit?"

Countries and devices

"Split mobile and desktop clicks by country for our blog. Where do we rank worse on mobile?"

Your Search Console data never touches our servers

  • Read-only. It asks Google only for "View Search Console data for your verified sites" and cannot change anything.
  • Straight to Google. The MCP runs on your computer and requests data directly from Google's APIs.
  • No tokens on our side. Tag Pilot only helps complete the Google sign-in and token refresh. Your Google token stays on your machine.
  • Off whenever you want. Disconnect the device in Tag Pilot, log out, or remove access in your Google account.
  • Open source. Apache-2.0 licensed. Read the code on GitHub.

FAQ

Is it really free?

Yes. The Search Console MCP is free to use with a free Tag Pilot account, like our GA4 MCP.

Does Tag Pilot see my Search Console data?

No. The MCP server runs on your own computer and requests data directly from Google. Your Search Console data never passes through or is stored on our servers. Tag Pilot only helps complete the Google sign-in and token refresh, and stores no Google tokens.

Can it change anything in Search Console?

No. It only asks for read-only access (the webmasters.readonly permission, shown by Google as "View Search Console data for your verified sites") and has no tools that submit sitemaps, request indexing or change settings.

Which AI tools does it work with?

Any client that supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and local servers: Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Gemini CLI and others. The Claude Desktop extension needs nothing else; the other clients need Node.js 18 or newer.

Why do I need a Tag Pilot account?

Your free account is where you approve each computer that connects to our sign-in service, so you can see where the MCP is used and disconnect a device at any time. There is no API key to copy.

I already use the GA4 MCP. Do I need this too?

They are separate servers with separate Google permissions, so you choose what your assistant can read. Install both and it can line up organic search queries with what those visitors did on your site.

How do I remove access?

Run npx -y @tagpilot/search-console-mcp logout, disconnect the device on the Search Console MCP page in Tag Pilot, or remove Tag Pilot at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Any one of them stops access.

Ready to ask?

Free account, one click, one Google sign-in.
